Unequal Protections That Aren’t Really Legal

What a great way to follow up yesterday’s blog…and would you believe there’s a connection? I won’t spill it here just yet but maybe you can figure it out on your own? Big hint. Who was investigating the Steve Hackney case and just about to make an arrest when they were abruptly suspended from duty? Hmmmmmmmmmm.

The allegedly lovely Taylor Griffith, daughter of Blair County Prothonotary, Robin Patton. Who could forget that? What else might have some folks forgotten about this case? Let’s review.

-The Blair County District Attorney’s Office has alleged that the information on the cell phone in this case took 4 years to recover. It took 4 years to get selfies from a phone? Really? It seems much more reasonable and likely that an arrest was made due to the other two co defendants allegedly plotting to kill Griffith. How do we keep the Prothonotary’s daughter safe? Arrest her and keep her in Blair County Prison. Which scenario sounds more logical to you? Keep in mind one of the co-defendants is facing charges for making threats to do just that.

-It has been alleged that Taylor Griffith previously sold drugs while on ARD. She was not charged for over a year for this offense. Then, when she was arrested on the murder charges, some new entries were made to her docket. A document, allegedly from 2013, magically appears in the summer of 2017. Not to mention the letterhead is wrong and there’s no judges signature. How do you get an early release from ARD without a judge’s signature? Who would have the access necessary to modify a docket and create such a document?

-It has been alleged that Peter J. Weeks and Robin Patton have had a past/present sexual relationship. No issue with Peterpuffer prosecuting her daughter’s case, right?

All three are currently scheduled for trial in August, but Griffith said Friday that she has a pending plea agreement. In exchange for truthful testimony, she said she will be in a position to render guilty pleas to third-degree murder and other charges for a sentence of 15 to 30 years in prison.

-Griffith admits to being given consideration, the plea bargain, in exchange for her truthful testimony. Can we really trust this testimony is truthful? Or is she just going to throw the other two under the bus in exchange for a lesser sentence? What if the stories of the other two match up and contradict hers? Do people really think when folks give testimony for consideration they tell the truth? What if lying benefits them? The will obviously lie. Not to mention the allegations of the prosecutor having a current/previous sexual relationship with her mother. If this District Attorney’s Office had any integrity, they would send all three to trial and let a jury decide. But, clearly, protecting Robin Patton’s daughter is priority one. So the only logical option is the exact situation playing out before us.
